Lithuania’s recent decision to accept a Taiwan Representative Office hascreated outsized reverberations across Europe, Asia, and the world.With the decision to utilize the name “Taiwan,” Lithuania has drawn theire of the People’s Republic of China and thrust Taiwan into the centerof European Union politics. Why did Lithuania and the Baltic countriesdecide to develop closer relations with Taiwan at the cost of alienatingChina? What does this entail for the future of European relations withTaiwan and China? And what does this shift mean for Taiwan’sinternational status and future?
Please join us as three scholars from Taiwan and the Baltic discuss theimplications of unfolding contemporary events. Theand(BES) are pleased to presentKatherine Simóne Reynolds: A Warning Resting in the Distance, an exhibition centered on how Black women feel in the face of danger, whether that danger is known for certain or merely speculated. Featuring photography, video, installation and sound works by Katherine Simóne Reynolds, the exhibition considers how different kinds of information influence the way we relate to our surroundings. A recorded exhibition walkthrough with a talk by Reynolds will also be available to view via BES social media channels.
