Two new rankings out this month place UW among the best schools in the nation and the world.
Times Higher Education released its聽聽of the top 1,000 universities in the world. The UW again ranked 29th, maintaining its position as fourth among U.S. public institutions 鈥� behind UCLA, UC Berkeley and the University of Michigan 鈥� a position it has held for the last six years.
This 聽judges research-intensive universities across all their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The rankings聽聽to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons that they say are trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments.
On the Washington Monthly聽, the UW placed No. 11, moving up five positions from last year. This ranking, published annually since 2005, evaluates colleges based on what they do for the country, according to the magazine. Washington Monthly ranks national universities 鈥� four-year institutions that award a significant number of doctoral degrees 鈥� based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research and promoting public service.
