Cauce鈥檚 annual salary will be $697,500. In addition, each year of the five-year contract $150,000 will be deposited into a deferred compensation account. She will also receive annually a $50,500 contribution to a retirement account. The package includes a $12,000 annual automobile allowance. Total compensation, including deferred funds, is $910,000.

鈥淧resident Cauce is an extraordinary leader and the right person for this job,鈥 said board chair Bill Ayer. 鈥淭he contract the board approved today is competitive, fair and equitable and very much in line with those of similar universities. The board has been impressed by the widespread enthusiasm expressed throughout the university community for her appointment. We share that enthusiasm and look forward to a very bright future under her leadership.鈥

“I am very gratified by the confidence the Regents have expressed in me,鈥 said Cauce. 鈥淚 will work hard to serve the faculty, staff and students of this university I love, as well as the citizens of our state. This is a great privilege and a great responsibility.”

In signing her contract, Cauce also announced that she will donate to the University $500,000 over the term of her contract in support of students. She will be adding to a scholarship fund she established some time ago in the name of her brother, as well as other funds directed toward student support and programs.

鈥淭his University has meant so much in my life, and at the core of it all are the students we educate and whose lives we transform,鈥 added Cauce. 鈥淚t gives me a tremendous amount of pride and satisfaction to be able to give a portion of this money back to the University in support of our amazing students.鈥

鈥淎na Mari鈥檚 donation is very generous and reflects her long-term commitment to the University and its students,鈥 said Ayer. 鈥淚t is a wonderful gift.鈥

Like University presidents before her since the 1940s, Cauce will be required to reside at the University鈥檚 residence for presidents in Madison Park. The residence was gifted to the University by the Walker-Ames estate in 1939. It is also used for a variety of university functions.
