A record 5,600-plus graduates, along with more than 40,000 family members, friends, faculty and other observers, are expected to attend the聽聽June 13 at Husky Stadium.
UW interim President Ana Mari Cauce will preside as more than 12,700 degrees are conferred, including more than 7,700 bachelor鈥檚 degrees, more than 3,600 master鈥檚 degrees, 550 professional degrees, 14 educational specialist degrees and more than 860 doctoral degrees.
The commencement speaker is former Gov. Christine O. Gregoire.
Graduates begin lining up on the Husky Stadium outdoor practice field at 12:30 p.m., and the academic procession begins at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony is scheduled for three hours.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on UWTV starting at 12:30 p.m. on Comcast channel 27 throughout the Puget Sound region, and will be streamed live at聽. The ceremonies will also be rebroadcast for several weeks following the event ().
Degrees are awarded to those who have completed academic requirements some time during the 2014-2015 academic year. Special honors to be acknowledged include the Alumnus Summa Laude Dignatus, Distinguished Teaching Awards, and President鈥檚 Medals presented to two graduating seniors, a four-year student and a transfer student, with the most distinguished academic records.
Members of the Board of Regents, deans and other representatives of the university鈥檚 16 colleges and schools will participate in the ceremony. Many colleges and schools also have .
UW Tacoma will celebrate its 25th聽commencement at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at the Tacoma Dome. The featured speaker will be Charles 鈥淜elly鈥 Creso, 鈥91, who received the first degree awarded by UW at its Tacoma campus. About 1,600 students will receive degrees.
UW Bothell will celebrate its 24th聽commencement at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, Alaska Airlines Arena. UW interim President Ana Mari Cauce will be the commencement speaker. About 1,600 students will receive degrees.
