Society names student award in honor of Ray Huey
The Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology’s Division of Ecology and Evolution has just announced a new prize for the best student presentation at its annual meeting, named in honor of Ray Huey, 天美影视传媒 professor of biology.
鈥淩ay has been an integral part of SICB for 40 years, and without fail he presents cutting-edge science and gives great talks,鈥� according to information from the society about the new Raymond B. Huey Award. 鈥淩ay also embodies the student focus of the meetings 鈥� by talking with any and all conference goers, from first-time students to established scientists.鈥�
Marsha Linehan receives lifetime achievement award
, UW psychology professor and director of UW’s , is the 2012 recipient of the American Psychology Foundation’s for lifetime achievement in the application of psychology.
Linehan developed , a cognitive behavioral treatment originally created to treat suicide patients and now the standard treatment for borderline personality disorder. “What began as a treatment primarily for suicidal and self-injurious behaviors has expanded to many other areas, including addictive and eating disorders, depression, and family conflict,” the foundation described in the announcement of Linehan’s award.
The award was given during the association’s annual meeting in Orlando, Fla.
