UW units are sponsoring an Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease Public Forum from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, at the Shoreline Conference Center, 18560 1st Ave. N.E. The program is free and everyone is welcome.

The UW Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease Research Center, based in the School of Medicine, and the de Tornyay Center for Healthy Aging in the School of Nursing, have joined with the Friends of Alzheimer鈥檚 Research to present the program.

Dr. Linda Teri, director of the de Tornyay Center and a researcher who has done extensive work on quality-of-life issues for Alzheimer鈥檚 patients and their caregivers, will give the introduction.

Dr. Eric Larson, medical director of UW Medical Center and professor of medicine, will speak on 鈥淐hanges in How Doctors Approach Alzheimer鈥檚 Disease Then and Now: A 25-Year Perspective.鈥

Dr. Heather Young, research associate professor of nursing, will speak on 鈥淐hoices: Marking Decisions about Assisted Living and Long-Term Care.鈥 She is the co-author, with Dr. Rheba de Tornyay, dean emeritus of nursing, of a book on choosing retirement living situations.
