Join the Dream Project on November 14 and 15 and help more than 300 local high school students craft competitive college application essays. Volunteer writing tutors are needed to work with students one-on-one. Students who attend the weekend often come in with nothing and leave having submitted a completed college application.

Join squeals of preschool delight, help prepare preschool children for school, and raise awareness about the importance of early literacy with UW Jumpstart鈥檚 fourth annual Read for the Record event. Read for the Record aims to break the world record of the largest shared reading experience by encouraging hundreds of thousands of children and adults to read the same book on the same day.

Coinciding with the start of fall quarter, commuter students will have a new opportunity to connect with their voyaging peers at the Commuter Commons.

The Collegium on Large Class Instruction happens just in time for fall quarter, September 22-23, at the Center for Urban Horticulture. Designed for faculty who teach classes ranging from 100 to 700 students, the format and locality enable participants to select the sessions that best suit their needs.

Congratulations, Kay Balston, who was recently named Adviser of the Year by the UW鈥檚 Association of Professional Advisers and Counselors (APAC)! Balston, an adviser in Undergraduate Advising in Undergraduate Academic Affairs, received the award 鈥渋n honor of exceptional service to the 天美影视传媒 students, staff, and faculty.鈥 One adviser each year receives this award.
